When I started to really enjoy running (yung hindi na siya feeling parusa sa umaga), I became curious about triathlons. I had a bit of swimming background from college PE, then started biking long distances during the pandemic. After adding running to my post-pandemic hobbies, I thought it would be fun (baliw) to combine the three.
I decided to do my first multisport event with SBR because it was the least intimidating triathlon event we found online. It’s beginner-friendly and lenient when it comes to bikes. My friends and I don’t have time-trial or road bikes. Naka folding-gravel-pamalengke combo kami, so we couldn’t join most other races even if we wanted to.

We all finished our first event. This was also the first time I experienced cramping that bad—my entire lower body just froze. That’s when I learned that proper nutrition is just as important as training. We joined again the following year with a different crew and new teammates—some were first-timers. No PB goals, just wanted more experience. We clocked in faster finish times, and thankfully, no cramps.

On our third season with SBR, Oxy and I decided to go for the Trifecta package. One of those “if you sign-up, i-sign up moments”.
Season 2025—Trifecta
Aquaman Aquathlon
Vermosa Sports Hub
Aquaman was fun. But the swim-to-run transition was a unique kind of suffering. Running right after pulling yourself out of the pool, still gasping for air, is like moving through wet cement—uncomfortable, dizzying, but strangely rewarding. If you want to try multi-sport without the hassle of bringing a bike or dealing with logistics, Aquathlon is the best event for you.

This year’s Duaman was wet and wild. The event happened during a storm #Crising. But honestly, I prefer rainy races over dry and humid ones. I got to update my 5K PB, though I feel like I could’ve gone sub-24. I miscalculated during the first run and conserved more energy than I should have.
The good thing is, that miscalculation left me with a few extra kicks, so I still had something for the bike leg and the final run.
This was our first time racing without a crew, so we don’t have much race footage. It would’ve been a nightmare to document everything with all the rain, so in a way, it was nice that we didn’t have to hassle the crew. Oxy had some friends who joined too, so I got to meet new cool athletes.
